Orbis is an over 30 year-old global investment management firm with approximately $37 billion in AUM, headquartered in Bermuda with other offices in Hong Kong, London, Luxembourg, San Francisco, Sydney, Tokyo and Vancouver. We use a value-oriented, long-term approach to equity investing.
Our Purpose
Founded in 1989, Orbis has been investing globally for over 30 years. Since the firm's inception, our purpose has been straightforward: to empower our clients by enhancing their savings and wealth. We believe the best way we can do this is by applying our fundamental, long-term and contrarian investment philosophy. To support this mission, we have structured our firm in a way that requires us to deliver meaningful value-for-money to our clients. We recognize that without the trust and confidence of our clients, our firm cannot - and should not - survive.
Our People
Over time, we have trained and retained a team of outstanding stock pickers, who
generate the stock ideas that drive our outperformance. They differ in professional
interests and academic training, but we find that successful analysts at our firm
challenge consensus, work independently and enjoy individual accountability. We
have created an environment in which self-motivated individuals can prove themselves
objectively and be rewarded accordingly.
Orbis offers summer investment analyst internships throughout our firm. Check your career services' jobs website in the fall or contact us to learn more.
Our Performance
Since 1989, we have grown from $67 million under management to approximately $37 billion today.
A key feature of all of our funds is performance-based fees, which serve to align our interests with those of our clients. To that end, our fees have always been designed to reward us for superior relative performance as well as
penalize us for underperformance. Ultimately, the firm's profitability is driven much more by performance than by growth in assets under management. The firm's owners, management, and staff have sizable investments in the Orbis Funds
along with our clients on the same terms and the same fees. We therefore have powerful incentives to behave as responsible stewards of our clients' capital and achieve superior risk-adjusted long-term returns.
