About the Fellowship

We invite incoming MBA students who are passionate about investment management to apply for our 2024 Fellowship. There are no demographic criteria or previous work experience requirements.

The Award

The 2024 Fellow will receive a $15,000 cash award attributable toward tuition or course-related expenses.

Eligibility

  • Incoming MBA students who have been accepted to an accredited MBA program and have a passion for investing.
  • There are no demographic criteria or previous work experience requirements.

How to Apply

Initial Steps

Application Deadline: Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11:59pm PT

  1. Complete the online application form.
  2. Submit the following in PDF format
    • Resume [including your GPA, GMAT and SAT scores]
    • Proof of enrollment
    • A 500-word essay articulating why you are passionate about investing
    *Please note: If you do not receive an email regarding the next steps in the fellowship process within a week of the application deadline, please email maggie.stone@orbis.com to check the status of your application.

Stock Prompt Issuance Date: Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 9:00am PT

  1. Complete an original stock analysis on a stock of our choosing.
    • We will send the stock analysis prompt to all applicants, who will have one week to complete the analysis. This is the only week that stock prompts will be issued (no exceptions). We will provide all the pertinent details at that time, and you may use whichever resources you deem fit.

Stock Analysis Deadline: Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 9:00am PT

  1. Return your completed stock analysis no later than this date.

Final Step

Interviews: July and August 2024

  1. Those applicants with outstanding essays and stock analyses will be invited to meet with our Investment Team to discuss their application materials. These final round interviews will be conducted via videoconference.

Fellowship Winner Announced: Friday, August 30, 2024



Evaluation Criteria

Candidates will be evaluated based on:

  • A demonstrated passion for investing
  • Quality, logic, and reasoning of a sound stock analysis
  • A sustained commitment to excellence
  • The promise of a continued commitment to the field of investing
  • NOTE: The conventional need NOT apply

Orbis reserves the right to select multiple recipients or no recipients for the Fellowship in any particular year, based on the quality of the application materials.
